Lujan Grisham Statement on Iran Nuclear Agreement

Statement

Date: July 15, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham released the following statement today in response to the Obama administration's announcement of a nuclear agreement with Iran.

"I have said that a negotiated agreement forged with our international partners is the best option to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear capabilities. I still believe that. However, I am cognizant that this is still an agreement between adversaries. Our job in Congress is to scrutinize the details to ensure this deal is in the best interest of the United States and our allies. We can't rely on the assurances of our adversaries. Before the international community provides sanctions relief, Iran needs to allow inspections and access to all sites accompanied by the strongest verification process possible."
