Governor Maggie Hassan today issued the following statement after the New Hampshire Senate voted to pass SB 244, relative to abuse and neglect investigations and establishing a commission to review child abuse fatalities:

"Every child, regardless of circumstance, has the fundamental right to be safe, to be cared for and loved, and to learn, grow and seize his or her vast potential. In order to ensure that all of our children have this opportunity, we must do everything we can to prevent abuse and neglect. Senate Bill 244 would give state officials another tool to help prevent these senseless tragedies, and I thank Senator Boutin and senators from both parties for working to strengthen the state's efforts to ensure the protection of our children."
