Common Core has found itself into the classrooms of many Desoto County Schools. Although the intentions of this system of education was to simplify the educational process, like most government-run programs; it has done just the opposite. We need fundamental changes in our educational standards in order to provide all students and educators with the proper resources and opportunities to succeed. We can accomplish this by addressing several specific concerns:

1. Address the Common Core program in Mississippi and make changes to the educational system that puts the power back to the individual school systems rather than the government.
2. Implement a strong contingency plan to protect the safety of our students, teachers, and educational staff.
3. Find affordable solutions to school overcrowding.
4. Support private and state funded grant programs that are designed to enhance the educational process while providing employment incentives and better pay to attract the best quality teachers. Our children deserve this type of effort.
