Issue Position

I am a friend of coal. One of the largest challenges in Kentucky is the decline of the coal industry. The Obama Administration's war on coal has been devastating to Kentucky's coal industry. Coal production in Kentucky decreased by nearly 12 percent in 2013 and declined again in 2014. Additionally, Kentucky coal mining jobs decreased by over 15 percent over the last two years with the same trends projected to continue.

I understand the critical role that coal has played in our economy for decades. As your next Governor, I will fight for Kentucky's coal industry because low utility rates bring business and business brings jobs.
