Following Eversource's (formerly known as Public Service of New Hampshire) announcement today that it has reached an agreement with key state officials to divest its generating plants and forego a portion of the Merrimack Station cost recovery, Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement:
"As we work to reduce energy costs for New Hampshire businesses and families while protecting the state's natural resources and preparing for an innovative energy future, it is important that we work together to resolve our state's energy challenges. I thank the state team -- led by Senator Bradley, Senator Feltes and Meredith Hatfield -- for their hard work to negotiate a resolution that provides savings for ratepayers, labor protections, environmental and reliability benefits, and protects municipal interests. If this approach is successful we can avoid protracted litigation and focus on making an energy future that is innovative, reliable and affordable a reality. I look forward to working with legislators and regulators to ensure the best outcome for the people of New Hampshire, working in partnership with all stakeholders, including employees, businesses and ratepayers."
