Cochran, Wicker Support Obamacare Repeal

Statement

U.S. Senators Thad Cochran, R-Miss., and Roger Wicker, R-Miss., are supporting a new measure introduced by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, to repeal the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act," also known as Obamacare.

The measure (S.339) would go into effect 180 days after enactment to give Congress time to pass alternative patient-centered reforms.

"Obamacare is not only a drag on the economy, but a negative force in the lives of American families through lost insurance coverage, higher premiums, less choice and fewer work hours. The administration's expensive and government-heavy experiment to remake American healthcare is not working well. This law should be repealed so that a better system can be put in place," Cochran said.

"The high costs and excessive red tape that characterize Obamacare have restricted patient choice and stalled job creation," Wicker said. "There are much better ways to achieve sensible health-care reform that lowers costs and puts patients and doctors in charge of health-care decisions. This cannot be accomplished as long as Obamacare is the law of the land."
