Polis, Messer Announce Plans to Introduce Student Data Privacy Legislation

Statement

Date: Feb. 5, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Representatives Jared Polis (D-CO) and Luke Messer (R-IN) released the following statement regarding their plans to introduce student data privacy legislation in the House of Representatives. Earlier today, the White House posted a statement confirming they have been working with Reps. Polis and Messer on this important topic.

"We are excited to be working together to protect student privacy in this age of digital learning. There have been important innovations in classroom instruction over the last few years. It's important we all work together to find the balance between new technology in the classroom and a parent's right to protect their child's privacy. We look forward to introducing legislation that will accomplish that soon."
