State Senator and Democratic candidate for the United States Senate today said he endorses the efforts of campaign finance reform group MaydayPAC (https://mayday.us/) and said time has come to fundamentally change the way elections are funded.
"Campaign money has corrupted our political process and crippled our government," said Hutto. "Washington is broken and the quest for campaign dollars have resulted in career politicians like Lindsey Graham."
Hutto says he is endorsing the goals of Mayday PAC and their efforts to reform how campaigns and elections are financed nationwide.
MaydayPAC describes itself as an independent political action committee that aims to elect a Congress committed to fundamental reform in the way political campaigns are funded by 2016. Their plan is to empower more Americans to become engaged in the political process. According to MayDay.us, political influence has become too concentrated. MaydayPAC says eighty-five percent of campaign funding comes from large contributions and people contributing over $10,000 represents only 0.01% of the population.
"Our current representatives in Washington are spending more time chasing campaign cash than doing the people's business. My commitment throughout my campaign for the Senate is to be a Senator for South Carolina -- for all people," said Hutto. "MaydayPAC's goals are right in line with my goals of changing Washington."
