Representative Steve Daines today released the following statement in response to President Obama's announced plans to issue an executive order on immigration following the November 2014 elections:
"President Obama's intention to unilaterally issue yet another new mandate without consulting Congress or securing consent from the American people is unacceptable. It is equally troubling that President Obama has decided to wait until after the November elections to issue these orders--making clear that he knows his actions go against the will of the American people, but still intends to move forward without working with Congress. The people of Montana and their elected representatives in Congress must have a say in such broad-sweeping policy changes, and I will not support the President's choice to sidestep this Constitutionally protected process."
