Agritourism A Benefit To State

Statement

Former Arkansas House Majority Leader and Fourth District Congressional Candidate Bruce Westerman (R-Hot Springs) today released the following statement regarding the increase of agritourism in Arkansas, as reported by the Times Record:

"As a former State President of the Future Farmers of America, I am proud to see Arkansans take the opportunity to spend some time on a farm to see where their food comes from and be proud of the abundance of products our great state produces. This was the goal of Act 1024 of 2011, the 'Agritourism Act' that I authored and passed with bipartisan support.

"The liability protections found in Act 1024 result in less hassles for Arkansas farmers that wish to engage in agritourism, and allows the public more freedom to experience farm life and gain knowledge about the products that end up on our family dinner tables. Furthermore, it is an example of what government can do to create a friendly environment for the private sector to create new jobs."
