I support strengthening public transportation across the region, which I regularly use. Safe, reliable and affordable public transportation can make it easier for people to get to work, reduce household transportation costs, cut our dependence on oil, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and promote public health. We have deferred much-needed improvements to our public transportation system and have limited bus routes. Subway trains are forty years old (or older) and need to be replaced. We need to modernize and expand our public transportation system including expanding the Green line.
I applaud the efforts made by Governor Patrick and those in the legislature who are pushing for a significant investment into our public transportation system, and will advocate for such necessary improvements as State Representative.
We must also invest in repairing our roads and bridges so people can travel to work, so companies can have easy access to business supplies and workers, and so our communities can thrive.
