Privacy -- We are living in a day and age when your information doesn't belong to you. This information includes your cell phone location, and call history, your search engine and internet history, even your purchase history. There is no policy in place that states your personal information belongs to you. I am working to implement consent or notification legislation which would require consent, ranging from government agencies to businesses, when collecting and saving your information.
Event Data Recorders (Black Boxes in Vehicles) -- Over 90% of vehicles have black boxes that collect information before and after an accident. Why don't consumers know about these boxes, and why don't the devices include an off switch? I plan on working to ensure that consumers have a choice when it comes to information being collected about them. Read more about EDRs here.
Protecting Sources of the Press -- Montana has strong laws that protect the press, but I am looking to update them to include today's newest technologies.
Facial Recognition Scanners -- I oppose the states use of information gathered by facial recognition scanners. I will be bringing forth legislation to prevent the use of this data in the future.
License Plate Scanners -- I oppose the states use of license plate scanners in Montana and will also be bringing forth legislation to prevent the use of this technology.
