"We must keep the peace through strength because weakness only invites aggression." Ronald Reagan. One of government's primary roles is national defense. In a time of increasing terrorist threats to the United States and our interest, this is no time to continue down the road of spending cuts in National Defense. During the Reagan years, defense spending was roughly 29% of the annual budget. Defense spending has been cut to roughly 18% of the annual budget, while entitlement spending continues to rise. We face a continued threat from Islamic Radicals, a growing threat from North Korea, Iran on the brink of a nuclear weapon, unrest in Syria, Afghanistan, and increased aggression from Russia. This is no time to reduce defense spending. We must assess how our resources are being managed and utilize them effectively, in all areas of government. This will allow us to rebuild our military as we face new and continued threats from those who wish to destroy our freedom.
