Georgia, certainly metropolitan Atlanta - indeed the 88th Legislative District - is in the midst of a transportation crisis precipitated by the popularity and growth explosion in our communities.
Today, more than ever, we need a representative that understands the needs of our entire community. A representative that has a history of smart decisions when in comes to efforts to reduce traffic in the metro area, keeping development areas open across the state and the support of plans for the strategic development of rail options for commuters. We need continued strong representation, that just doesn't seek to pave our way out of our problems, but rather, understands the need of changing our culture of the "single-passenger-culture," and support a transportation system where we can live, work, play and go to school with more varied and flexible transportation options.
I am glad to be among those in the Georgia General Assembly leading the way for transformative transportation, supporting new options such as the "Brain-Train" (which would connect a transportation system with the State's university's and colleges) as well as the Transportation Act of 2010, all while opposing new tolls. I have been honored by the Chambers of commerce throughout Georgia for my stalwart support in bringing traffic relief to our community.
