We must protect the institutions that make public education work, empower our teachers and provide them with the tools needed, such as innovative programs and the latest educational technology to fully engage our students.

Certainly there is a proven and very practical, connection between education and attracting good jobs to our community. Where there are good schools, the crime rate is lower; where are good schools, home values are higher and where there are good schools, economic opportunities are greater! In difficult times such as these, we don't need to cut back educational opportunities but rather, we need to expand them!

I have a solid record of supporting and working with our public school system - parents, teachers and students - to do just that. As a result, I enjoy the endorsement and support of the Georgia Association of Educators, the Georgia American Federation of Teachers and the Organization DeKalb Educators and the thousands of their members. I pledge to continue to work together for an education system that delivers on our best hopes.
