To maintain a strong economy and ensure our future prosperity, quality education must be our number one priority. North Carolina must have a robust mix of traditional public schools, charter schools, private schools, and home schools -- giving parents and children numerous education options -- in order to realize our potential.
To deal with the reality of a $2.5 billion budget deficit, we have to cut the waste that exists in our education system. We cannot continue throwing money at the same problems and expect different results.
Our budget will fully fund education in the classroom and account for enrollment growth, putting children first.
