In Congress, Congressman Cleaver approaches all issues facing our country with a balanced policy making focus. Decisions facing our families must be made in the context of competing demands and what is best for Country. Coming from a family of educators, Congressman Cleaver has fought for affordable and accessible educational opportunities for everyone including job re-training initiatives. His constant focus on job creation and economic development projects has become a reliable fixture in all of his activities in Congress. His balanced approach to policy making recognizes that Americans sometime need a helping hand of assistance versus a closed fist of despair. Growing up in public housing the Congressman has been a leader on affordable and accessible housing issues through his work on the Financial Services Committee. As a Co-Founder of the Civility Caucus upon joining Congress, Congressman Cleaver is a driving force behind bringing both parties together working across the partisan aisle. His work has received national acclaim for making a difference in Congress.
