There were more gun deaths in Pennsylvania between 2001 and 2010 than from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan combined. Gun violence is devastating families and communities. As a Commissioner in Cheltenham I supported a new township ordinance to require reporting of lost and stolen guns. I also led the successful effort to divest our pension funds from assault weapon and ammunition makers. I have joined the effort of former New York Mayor Bloomberg to advance common-sense gun regulation.
Getting guns out of the hands of those who perpetuate violence is a priority. As your State Senator, I will fight for expanded background checks, reporting lost and stolen guns, one gun a month purchase limits, and other restrictions on gun access.
Raising support for public education, raising the minimum wage and reducing gun violence combine to expand opportunities for families and generate a more viable community.
