Issue Position: Corporate Welfare

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2014

The government should not pick winners and losers. It should not subsidize one company or industry. Central planners in Washington should not try to use incentives to push policy. Tampering with the free market only harms the consumers and benefits only certain well-connected special interests. The federal government must be very transparent about any corporate welfare it hands out. Companies who accept corporate welfare should be expected to be put under similar or more stringent rules as individual welfare recipients.
