Larry Stutts will deliver EDUCATION……

As a product of public education with two doctorate level degrees, Larry is devoted to improving the education system. He is for equipping teachers and schools with the right tools to help reach the needs of their students.

The administrators, teachers and parents should be allowed the freedom to manage their own children's educational needs according to the community where they live, as opposed to the one-size- fits-all federal government approach. Larry will deliver common-sense policies for education that support local control and input.

He believes the responsibility for education ultimately lies with the parents. A good education is one of the greatest gifts parents can give their children. Parents should have an active role in their children's education. Giving more local control where local school boards and parents play a more significant role in their children's schooling will be promoted by Larry.

Larry supports high standards for students and teachers. Citizens have elected local and state School Board members to oversee and set educational standards. The final decision about Alabama College and Career Ready Standards (Common Core) should be left to the members who have been elected by the citizens for the purpose of overseeing the local and state educational curriculum and standards.

There have been several attempts in the legislature to repeal Common Core State Standards. While Larry is personally against Common Core, he does not believe the legislature is the place to debate these standards.

The educational system should produce students ready for the workforce and prepared for a successful future in the ever-expanding global environment. Having a well-educated and prepared workforce plays a major role in bringing more jobs to Alabama and District 6. Larry supports the efforts of educators to prepare the students of today to be the leaders of tomorrow.
