The state of Delaware's infrastructure is vitally important, to the safety of all
Delawareans as well as to Delaware's current and future economy. Our transportation network is something that most Delawareans utilize each day. Maintenance of our bridges and roads is of the utmost importance.
As many Delawareans are aware, there are roads to improve and expand; traffic is severe in certain areas; and potholes can cause significant damage to cars. These are just some of the very solvable problems we can address, and they are among the topics businesses consider when deciding where to locate and expand. To resolve these problems we must invest in our infrastructure. We cannot ignore the need to invest in Delaware's long-term infrastructure for the sake of reducing short-term spending or borrowing levels, especially as nearby states have decided to make large investments of their own.
A robust economy requires a safe and sound infrastructure, and Delaware cannot afford to slip behind neighboring states a time when businesses are making long-term decisions about where to locate and expand their operations. We should carefully examine each road and intersection to determine which ones present the most significant safety concerns and which ones are the most important economic investments to fix. By doing so, we will put more Delawareans to work, protect more motorists in our community, improve the quality-of-live for all Delawareans, and position Delaware to be a place clearly committed to wise business investments and long-term needs.
