A self-sufficient person has the knowledge necessary to be marketable. When a person gains expertise, others are willing to hire that person for a good wage. Educated people also confidently start their own businesses and hire employees.
My goal is to foster purpose in formal education. We live in the information age where everyone has access to the greatest libraries. Knowledge is available to all who seek it outside educational institutions. Formal education at all levels needs to focus not only on helping people become knowledgeable, but also on liberating people with marketable skills to attain the American Dream. Formal education should lead to employment and expanded opportunity, not a diploma with debt and hopelessness.
