Close the Opportunity Gap
Every child deserves equal opportunity in education. I will be a strong advocate for every child to achieve the American Dream.
The education we provide our children is a reflection of our values; we can't afford to wait for the next generation to close our opportunity gaps. We need a holistic cradle to career approach to improving our education system.
As your State Representative, I will:
Increase funding for early child education.
We must fund universal preK.
For every $1 invested in early child education, we see a return of $7.
Provide Safe & Supportive Schools.
We must fully implement the Safe & Supportive Schools Act to prevent bullying and improve education outcomes for all students.
Restorative justice programs are 4x less costly than traditional criminal justice programs. Students in criminal justice programs can become entrenched, where those in restorative justice programs are much less likely to reoffend.
Support homeless and highly mobile students by focusing on affordable housing, expanding the McKinney Vento Act, and properly funding school social workers and other support staff.
Decrease burden of rising higher education costs.
I am a firm supporter of the MPIRG authored Opportunity Minnesota bill, a low-cost high-reward solution that makes college more affordable and helps retain homegrown talent.
I pledge to be a leader on education at the state capitol, and I will bring my experience as a student, a parent, and an education policy maker with me.
