When I ran for the 86th Assembly seat, I ran on the premis that our taxes are too high! I am proud to have voted for the 2013-15 budget, with $651 million in tax breaks that will help all Wisconsonites. In 2014, I again voted for tax cuts of more than $700 million in property and income tax, to help all working familes as well as our most vulnerable, our senior citizens. In 2005 I ran for the 8th district Alderman seat in Marshfield, because I was tired of high taxes, as well as an expanding local government. I have never voted for a tax increase, and in the last 7 years our city tax rate has either decreased or remained the same, and the size of our city government, excluding protective services, has declined. As Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee, my committee and I have taken a hard line on costs and we have not seen our services decline. Having local government experience and understanding shared revenues and budgets, is essential for our small towns and cities. I am proud of the work I have done in Marshfield and now in our state to reduce the tax burden on our residents!
