Issue Position: Improving Economic Development

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2014

Mike Dovilla believes Ohio has great potential for an economic comeback. That comeback, however, has been delayed for years due to a devastating combination of high taxes, over-regulation, and bloated government bureaucracy. Two years ago Dovilla committed himself to tackling these problems head on. He has never forgotten that commitment and has made job creation and economic development his number one priority in the legislature. Dovilla was instrumental in supporting a state operating budget that closed an $8 billion dollar deficit without raising taxes! In fact, Dovilla voted to abolish the estate tax and restore the final year of a multi-year income tax reduction for working Ohioans that the previous legislature delayed to "balance" the 2010 budget. By reining in out of control government spending, eliminating taxes and balancing the budget Dovilla recognizes this is the only chance Ohio has to improve our state's economy -- and the results are starting to show. Ohio's unemployment rate has improved nearly twice as fast as the national rate since many of the pro-jobs bills Mike Dovilla has supported have been enacted.
