Indiana's educational system must be invigorated with new standards and curriculum created by Hoosiers. We, as a state and nation, must increase our ability to compete globally, a complex problem which demands attention. This effort should not be the total responsibility of the public school system.
Indiana, I believe, has stepped onto the pathway to success, but much more needs to be done for K-12, vocational, and college bound students. Specifically, we must work with Colleges and Universities with a focus on STEM based course work, creating degrees and vocational programs at the local level. We must retain as much control as possible at the local level.
