As a husband of a public school teacher and a father of three children who attend public school, I see many issues with our educational system. First recent issue is TCAP. We stress out our children and teachers preparing for the testing which can amount to 25% of test scores and the state failed to return the scores to the school districts for students' end-of-year grades. Valuable learning and teaching time lost! The excuse for delay of grades was referred to Common Core standards and how they may effects students across the state. Common Core must be stopped! The one-size-fits-all program is being pushed onto every state by our federal government and many states are pushing back and reclaiming the U.S. Constitutions Tenth Amendment that the federal government has no right in educating our children and that states' rights will not be infringed. We have many awesome school teachers and professors that know best how to teach our children. Care must be given to reduce class sizes and upgrade or build new facilities for educational purposes in our public school system. With more local involvement from parents, business's, and school districts, we can evolve our youth to be a driven, diversified workforce that will perform beyond our imaginations for the benefit of our cities, towns, and counties within District 74.
