Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Thanks Chairman Petri for Touring Miami's Transit Needs
WASHINGTON-Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) today was joined by House Transportation Subcommittee Chairman Tom Petri (R-WI) for a tour of Miami's transit projects that are included in the highway authorization bill Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy For Users (TEA-LU), which authorizes the nation's highway and transit projects for the next six years. The congressmen were joined on the tour by state transportation and county officials.
"I would like to thank Chairman Petri for his incredible support of Miami-Dade projects included in TEA-LU," said Diaz-Balart, a member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee. "I am honored to serve with the chairman on the House Transportation Committee and greatly appreciate his willingness to take such valuable time out of his demanding schedule to visit Miami and look at our transit priorities firsthand."
"While I am very pleased we successfully reauthorized Miami's important transit projects in TEA-LU, there still remains more work to be done," Diaz-Balart continued. "As the highway reauthorization bill now moves to conference with the Senate, I will continue to work to ensure these important projects remain in the final bill and signed into law by President Bush. Chairman Petri's visit today is an important step in that process."
