Shaheen Statement on Administration Briefing on Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl's Release

Statement

U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement after attending a Senators only briefing with Administration officials on the negotiations that led to the release of Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl:

"I appreciated the opportunity to be briefed on the negotiations that led to Sergeant Bergdahl's release, but I believe the Administration needs to do more to inform the public. I continue to have concerns about the Administration's failure to consult Congress. I am glad that Sergeant Bergdahl has been released, and I fully expect, as noted by General Dempsey, that there will be a full investigation into Bergdahl's separation from his unit, and that appropriate actions will be taken."
