Rep. Ellison Statement on Memorial Day

Rep. Keith Ellison released the following statement today ahead of Memorial Day on Monday.

"Today is a reminder of our obligation to serve our soldiers as they serve us: by supporting them as they return home from the battlefield, by giving them the best medical care we can offer, and by making sure every veteran has the opportunity to succeed.

"Our words must be mirrored by actions that serve and heal our veterans, and by a promise that those who have fallen have not died in vain. Let us honor their sacrifice by stating, without reservation, that we will provide their brothers and sisters in arms with an efficient and strong VA system, with effective education programs, with high-quality and affordable health care, and with the psychological and social support they deserve for their service.

"My son is currently a medic in the Army. I am proud beyond words of his choice to serve our country. It is for his sake, and the sake of all American servicemembers, that I ask you to join me in my call to honor our vets."
