Issue Position

The way that our elected officials are abusing tax payers is unacceptable.

The Transportation Trust Fund, the Chesapeake Bay Fund and other important public trusts are continually raided. Our elected officials have created enormous liabilities by stealing from these funds and the only solution we are given is more taxes.

As your Delegate, I will restore the trust that many elected officials have forsaken. As your Delegate, I pledge to protect the interests of the tax payer and fight to safeguard the trust of the public.

Repeal the Rain Tax
There are businesses in our district that will pay tens-of-thousands of dollars in new taxes because our elected officials chose to raid our trust funds. I pledge to sponsor legislation to immediately repeal the rain tax.

Prohibit the Looting of Tax Trust Funds
Our tax dollars should be used for what we were told they would be used for. Our laws should enforce the integrity that our communities expect. I pledge to sponsor legislation that would prevent the looting of our tax funds.

No New Taxes
The rain tax, the flush tax, the alcohol tax, the bottle tax, the tobacco tax, increased tolls, increased income tax rates, increased sales tax -- people are tired of the taxes! I pledge to fight any proposed tax increases, fight to decrease the tax burden on our working families and ensure the state effectively uses the tax dollars it collects.

Stop the Wasteful and Reckless Spending
When the 2013 legislative session ended, we were told that the state was on track to fix Maryland's structural deficit. Six months later, we had a $500 million structural deficit. We clearly have a spending problem, not a revenue problem. I pledge to fight the reckless and wasteful spending.
