Nevada's families have been hit hard by the economic crisis and Marilyn knows state government has a responsibility to do all it can to create more good-paying jobs right here at home. As a 30-year educator, Marilyn has seen many of her former students go to school out of state, because our higher education system didn't offer them the programs that prepare them for the jobs of the future. That's why Marilyn supports establishing a UNLV medical school right here in Southern Nevada. It's time we stop exporting our brightest students to other states and start increasing health care options for our community.
Building a medical school at UNLV, will make Las Vegas and Southern Nevada the center for medical and biotech research in the West, attract new employers, and diversify our economy by creating high-paying local jobs.
Marilyn knows that companies will move to Nevada if they know we invest in our students and provide them with the training they need to succeed. That's why she fought for our fair share of funding for the college of Southern Nevada, Nevada State College, and UNLV as an Assemblywoman.
