Issue Position: Quality of Life

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2014

I'm passionate about improving the quality of life for all Westfield residents. My work as a member of the Commission for the Citizens with Disabilities and youth basketball coach are the most rewarding things I do. I want to extend my support to all aspects of our community.

I will do everything I can to secure funding to make a new senior center a reality for our older adult community.

Our children must have safe, state of the art schools to compete effectively in our high-tech global economy. I will work to secure funding for our high school addition as well as for a new elementary school. I also intend to continue my collaboration with educators to ensure that the Westfield Public Schools system is second to none. As a graduate of Westfield schools, this would be my honor.

It's also important that we work together as a community to remove any barriers that keep our students from the benefit of a high quality education. I plan to bring city officials, educators, public safety officials and parents together to ensure that homelessness, substance abuse, disability, etc. are overcome to keep our kids in school.

I made it a priority to reach voters personally in their homes, in our schools, police cruisers, at the fire station, veterans clubs and at the Senior Center to learn how we can put Westfield First. The insight I gained will help me set legislative priorities consistent with the needs of our community.
