Issue Position

Another vital aspect of Westfield's quality of life is a thriving economy. A thriving economy creates jobs and tax revenue for our city. I'm proud of the many business owners I've met during the campaign. From small business owners to larger employers, I see that Westfield's entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well. We need to ensure that our community remains an attractive place to do business through low cost utilities, competitive tax rates and a skilled workforce. I intend to leveerage successful partnerships with two large economic engines -- Westfield State University and Barnes Airport to continue to drive economic growth.

Another important lever in economic growth is sustainable wages for employees. Up to 27% of the workforce in our local area would benefit from an increased minimum wage without adversely impacting our employers. Many of the businesses owner I met already pay well above minimum wage. When our businesses and working families win, our community prospers. Prosperity must extend to all members of our community.
