Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy commented on the Obama Administration's announcement that Medicare Advantage payments would rise by 0.4 percent for the average plan. The Obama Administration previously cut $716 billion from Medicare to fund Obamacare, including $300 billion from Medicare Advantage.
A leader in fighting to protect Medicare Advantage, Dr. Cassidy joined with Rep. John Barrow (D-GA) in March to send a letter signed by more than 200 Members of Congress to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Marilyn Tavenner, urging CMS to keep 2015 Medicare Advantage payment rates at 2014 levels.
Dr. Cassidy released the following statement:
"Along with Congressman Barrow, my office led a coalition of over 200 Members of Congress to let the President's Administration know how harmful these proposed cuts would be for seniors. While it's good to know that the Administration followed Congress's lead, there is still more work to be done. We must continue to work to return the $716 billion cut to Medicare that the Obama Administration implemented to fund Obamacare."
