Congresswoman Chellie Pingree released the following statement on the House's vote to support $1 billion in loan guarantees for Ukraine.
I'm proud to support these critical loan guarantees for Ukraine and am glad that Congress is acting swiftly to get behind the President and Secretary Kerry on this. These funds are essential in stabilizing Ukraine's economy and countering economic actions Russia has taken, including raising energy prices. In addition, it sends the message that the United States stands behind the Ukrainian people during these very challenging times. I hope we can continue working in this bipartisan spirit to pursue economic and diplomatic avenues in confronting this crisis.
