U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), a member of the Senate Budget Committee, released the following statement today regarding the president's fiscal year 2015 budget request:
"We owe it to our children and grandchildren to stop spending money we don't have. We need to implement a plan to control spending, simplify our tax code to create jobs, and strengthen and preserve retirement programs. Unfortunately, the president's budget ignores the reality of our nation's fiscal situation and would add $8.3 trillion to our $17 trillion national debt over the next decade, and increase taxes by $1.8 trillion to pay for new spending. America needs fiscal leadership, but this budget proposal is a missed opportunity."
