Energy independence is vital for the long-term security of our nation. In Virginia, off-shore energy exploration has the potential to create over 18,000 good-paying jobs right here in the Commonwealth.

Rob supports environmentally responsible exploration and drilling for natural gas and oil in Virginia and off our shores. In addition to thousands of new jobs, offshore drilling in Virginia would bring in nearly $8 billion in new capital investment. This is new revenue for better schools, roads and more police officers to keep our communities safe. We should move forward with alternative, renewable energy sources like wind and solar power, and renew our commitment to coal, which supports thousands of Virginia jobs.

Only by pursuing these initiatives can America finally secure energy independence. Virginia is in a prime position to not only benefit from that progress, but to also be a leader in making it happen.
