Daily I have a glimpse into the challenges facing the health care system, as my husband of 31 years is a practicing cardiologist at Parkview. Obamacare is costing jobs, hurting families and stifling business growth. A one-size-fits-all health care mandate should not come from Washington. States need the freedom to make health care decisions that are best for their residents. In Indiana, the Healthy Indiana Plan is an innovative option that helps thousands. It's encouraging that Indiana received a federal waiver to continue running HIP through 2014, but we need more certainty from Washington on whether or not HIP will be able to continue after that.
Obamacare unfairly targets the medical device industry, which provides 20,000 Hoosier jobs, through the medical device tax. I support federal efforts to repeal this job-destroying tax.
