Property Taxes

Looking back over my 38 year tenure in the real estate and home building industry I have vivid memories of the steep rise in property taxes that shocked residents of Elkhart County a fear years back. The property tax reform package put in place by former Governor Mitch Daniels took major steps in making property tax reform permanent for taxpayers. This however must be balanced against state and local government using tax revenue judiciously continuing to ensure the public safety, health and welfare of Hoosiers.

Lower taxes and less government trigger economic growth. Low taxes mean Hoosiers keep more of their hard earned dollars while giving entrepreneurs heightened incentive to succeed. Lowering taxes must work in combination of reducing government. Government must follow the example of private sector by working efficiently. Tax cuts can be achieved by limiting spending at both the state and local level.
