I have long been an advocate of affordable housing and ensuring that rental housing is safe. On the Champaign County Board, I supported the ordinance creating minimum housing standards for rental properties. As a City Council member, I advocated fines for slum landlords. In the General Assembly, I will work to promote development of more housing that is affordable to our most vulnerable citizens -- people with disabilities, senior citizens and the working poor. I support foreclosure protecction to help homeowners stay in their homes. I will also work to secure revenue for rebuilding neighborhoods in the 103rd district that have been affected by the housing crisis.
