Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. criticized President Obama for releasing enrollment numbers that do not reflect how Obamacare is failing American families, as reported today by the Wall Street Journal
The President claimed in a tweet that "six million Americans have gotten covered" under Obamacare. However, only 2.1 million of these people enrolled for health insurance, and McKinsey & Co. says that only 11 percent of consumers who purchased coverage through Obamacare previously did not have insurance. This pales in comparison to the President's promise that Obamacare would help the tens of millions of Americans uninsured before the law was enacted. Dr. Cassidy released the following statement:
"Millions of Americans are still uninsured and those who lost their health insurance and reenrolled through Obamacare are facing higher premiums for services they don't want. If there are more uninsured than there were prior to Obamacare, the law has failed and we must start over. That's why we need my Health Insurance Accountability Act, which will give us that fresh start and open the door to affordable health insurance that gives power to the patient and not to the President."
