Cassidy Proposes Trigger To Repeal Obamacare

Press Release

Date: Jan. 13, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D. proposed the Health Insurance Accountability Act. This bill would repeal Obamacare if more Americans are left uninsured than there were prior to Obamacare becoming law. Dr. Cassidy released the following statement:

"Two of the goals of President Obama's health care law were to make insurance more affordable and increase access. For many people insurance has become drastically more expensive and deductibles are higher. It also appears that more people have lost private health insurance then have gained. If this remains the case, we should repeal the Affordable Care Act. The American people deserve health insurance which is stable, affordable and puts patients in power, not bureaucrats."

To accomplish this goal, the Health Insurance Accountability Act requires the Government Accountability Office to commission a study in conjunction with the U.S. Census Bureau to determine how many Americans are uninsured now as opposed to the number of insured when Obamacare became law. If there are more uninsured Americans today, Obamacare would be repealed.
