Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) released the following statement following his vote in support of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013:
"This bipartisan proposal is by no means perfect. I would have preferred a deal that provides more relief from the self-inflicted wounds of the sequester, which has slowed our economic growth, limited job creation and cut important investments in infrastructure, education and research. The lack of action to extend emergency long-term unemployment benefits is also a tremendous disappointment. But ultimately I recognize the need for compromise, and as an appropriator I am encouraged by the opportunity to finally return Congress to regular order in the budget process."
