Health Care -- Caring for Our Families, Protecting Local Taxpayers

Texas leads the nation in the number of families without health insurance, and South Texas leads the state in the number of uninsured. This neglect leads families to over rely on emergency room care, which is more expensive, and too often local taxpayers are forced to pick up the tab. As State Representative, I'll fight to:

Support Medicaid expansion to insure more families at a lower cost.
Restore cuts to the Women's Health Program and allow women to choose when and how many children they can afford to care for.
Support the effort to bring a Medical School to South Texas, to train doctors and ensure greater access to health care for all families.
Support reasonable and fair Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement rates, ensuring we have the providers we need to provide for the elderly and the most vulnerable.
