Let's declare our independence!
I will fight to ensure that the United States is truly energy independent, free from the bonds of foreign regimes that hate America. Energy independence is within our grasp -- in potentially less than a decade, according to the International Energy Agency. We must seize this opportunity and push back against Obama's prosperity-killing EPA, DoE, USF&W & BLM. A chicken and a lizard are important, but it's more important to create jobs and produce the energy that Texas and America needs. Our nation simply cannot be fully secure unless we are energy independent.
We like to think of our nation as strong and independent nation, but when it comes to energy, we are anything but. Our need for imported oil places us at the mercy of some very bad actors. Every year, we send hundreds of billions of dollars to dictators who don't like us or support our ideals and would like nothing better than to see America fail. In the meantime, we sit atop vast energy reserves right here at home, while our people are out of work. Energy independence is more than an economic goal--it is a national security imperative.
The Obama Administration's failed plan for energy independence is built around big government programs and taxpayer subsidies to his cronies. An independent America doesn't require big federal boondoggles or backroom deals with cronies. Instead, we need to get the federal government out of the way and unleash the free enterprise system to do what it does best. Our government cannot make America energy independent, but if it merely gets out of the way and stops blocking us, we'll achieve that critical goal at the least cost to the average American citizen. This puts Americans first.
We must free our nation from the bonds of foreign energy and let the American citizenry develop our abundant supplies of American natural gas, oil, coal, wind, solar and other renewables, free from governmental tampering via special mandates and subsidies.
The government needs to get out of the way of the Keystone XL pipeline. President Obama has stonewalled the building of this vital and safe mode to transport energy across our country, when he should be welcoming it. Anything less than full support of the Keystone XL pipeline can only mean our President wants to continue our reliance on foreign oil.
