Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement on reports that House Republicans want to reduce the Medicaid expansion funding in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to replace the sequester cuts to defense:
"First, House Republicans shut down the government in an effort to stop the Affordable Care Act and roll back patient protections and important benefits. Now, instead of closing special interest tax breaks to prevent defense cuts, they want to snatch health care back from kids and families working to make ends meet. This is just more tea party brinksmanship that will result in another government shutdown."
