Key Issues - Women's HealthDecisions about women's health issues need to be made based on sound science and the best medical practices. Unfortunately, in Virginia women may soon lose access to breast and cervical cancer screenings, pap smears, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, and contraceptive health care provided at 21 outpatient health centers across the Commonwealth that may have to close as a result of legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2011. These regulations were not motivated by science, but by a radical ideology and extremist conservative politics.
As a member of the General Assembly I will support legislation to repeal these unnecessary and dangerous regulations. I will work hard to thwart similar attempts by the current majority in Richmond to put women's health at risk in an effort to score political points with the extreme elements of their party.
