As a member of the Fairfax County Economic Advisory Commission, I recently had the opportunity to ask Gerry Gordon, director of our Economic Development Authority, whether Virginia's growing national reputation as a source of ridicule on late night television was affecting his ability to recruit and retain businesses. His answer was that it definitely had an effect. The obsession of the Republican majority in Richmond with promoting radical right wing social legislation is hurting Virginia's women, families, and now our reputation as a great place to locate a business.
