Capito: West Virginians Left Without Options Under ObamaCare

Statement

Date: Sept. 12, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (WV-02) released the following statement slamming President Obama for leaving West Virginians without health care options under ObamaCare. It was recently announced that only one insurance company will offer exchange health insurance plans in West Virginia.

"Following President Obama's refusal to delay the individual mandate for families across the country, it was just announced that West Virginians will only have one option in choosing where they purchase a health care exchange plan. If the president doesn't delay the individual mandate, West Virginians will be forced to buy an insurance policy or face a government penalty starting on January 1, 2014.

"This week's announcement means that every West Virginian who seeks to avoid this government penalty by purchasing an exchange policy will have to buy that policy from a single company. This lack of competition will almost certainly mean higher premiums and further demonstrates that the implementation of ObamaCare is a train wreck. I will continue to fight ObamaCare's implementation because West Virginians deserve better."
